IST Sponsors the Art-Net Zone at PLASA 2016, London

IST is proud to sponsor and support the dedicated Art-Net zone on stand R71 at the PLASA 2016 exhibition, which takes place from the 18th to 20th September at London Olympia.

The dedicated Art-Net stand promises to be a hub of activity, with some of the industry’s most highly regarded figures in Ethernet and DMX/RDM lighting control on hand to provide one-to-one training, mini-seminars and practical product advice in the ‘Art-Fest’ session.

A lively programme of events is planned for Sunday (18th) and Monday (19th), with 15-minute tech-briefings taking place on a range of relevant topics. Dr Geoff Archenhold, founder of IST, will be presenting an introduction to VLC at 12:00 on Sunday the 18th September and will cover the basic principles, applications and the ArtVLC open standard control protocol dedicated to VLC.

The Ethernet-based iDrive® range of LED drivers has become the mainstay for the deployment of intelligent building management solutions, covering both indoor and architectural lighting applications and including both Art-Net and sACN control protocols.

The iDrive® constant current LED drivers utilise proprietary technology avoiding PWM driving techniques, which can effect TV, film and studio applications, whilst offering the step-less and totally flicker-free LED dimming technology.

IST has also developed iMune® based around Art-Net control protocols, which can easily be integrated with Art-Net compatible drivers, including the iDrive® centralised, rack-mounted range, to provide an intelligent lighting solution, based on tried and tested Ethernet structured cabling.

iMune® has been developed to satisfy the demand for smart control applications for the converging IT and building networks. The system has been designed specifically around corporate and user requirements and offers:

Security: 8192-bit key encryption and hierarchical user control.
Scalability: Ethernet-based communications for tens of thousands of devices.
Business Intelligence: smart data on installations using no-SQL DBMS and 3rd party dashboard visualisation.
Healthy Lighting: totally flicker-free LED lighting, using iDrive® centralised drivers.
Systems Integration: the ability to seamlessly integrate legacy systems and control protocols.
Individualisation: enables highly refined and personalised control in a simple and user-friendly way.

Dr Geoff Archenhold, IST founder, stated: “We are delighted to be supporting the Art-Net Zone at Plasa, as the Art-Net lighting control protocol is undoubtedly one of the most successful Ethernet-based protocols. The fact that it is an open standard allows all manufacturers with the right skill set to integrate the protocol within their own products. It is credit to Wayne Howell that he has reacted to the advancement of the LED industry and emerging new technologies like VLC by incorporating them into the Art-Net protocol, thus future-proofing the standard for years to come”.
