IST's Award Success Continues!

It was recently announced IST has been selected as one of three finalists in the category of Business Innovation of the Year for the 2015 Business Achievement Awards.

IST’s award nomination centres around its ground-breaking development of an advanced lighting control system called iMune®, which incorporates user-centric controls and highly functional and self-learning features, using the latest Internet-of-Things technology for both fixed and wireless devices.

The iMune® control system is already installed in the data centre for a global high street bank, which operates 24x7 and 365 days of the year. The iMune® system pipped competing control systems to the post due its high degree of flexibility, exceptionally user-friendly control interface and its ability to control the lighting intensity and colour temperature above individual work stations, according to individual preference. Additional benefits of iMune® include:

• Potential to significantly reduce energy consumption throughout buildings.
• Security through a novel encryption protocol protects the system against external security attackes.
• Allows FMs to create lighting tasks within seconds, without the presence of a commissioning engineer.
• Only 2 hours training required for all iMune® users, as it is so simple to use.

The iMune® system is installed alongside IST’s iDrive® rack-mounted LED drivers and Serenity DynaWhite® biodynamic Quadrum lighting panels in the bank’s data centre, offering a totally flicker-free, healthy lighting environment.

IST is delighted to be recognised yet again for its commitment to pushing the boundaries of existing technologies through its R&D programme, which has a strong focus on customer value. Dr. Geoff Archenhold, Founder and CTO of IST commented: “The industry feedback to date for iMune® has been phenomenal and via the company’s new 3-year “Integrate to Change” strategy, we are already working on the design and implementation of intelligent lighting controls with full service system integration for several global blue chip partners, including a high-end retailer. This symbolises a new and very exciting era for IST and a significant strategic shift away from IST’s historical OEM trajectory for power electronics and fixtures, which is subject to ever increasing competition and margin erosion.”

The development of iMune® was initially made possible by employing the exceptional IT expertise of top grade graduates via a KTP programme through the University of Wolverhampton. The team of software engineers at IST has since grown considerably, enabling IST enter and support the completely new market of lighting controls: a huge growth market expected to grow at a rate of 20% per annum to over £3 billion by 2020.

The Business Innovation of the Year 2015 category winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Wednesday 1 July 2015 at the Molineux Stadium.
