03/03/2009 - IST’s Downlighters Contribute to >80% Energy Saving at Future HQ
Integrated System Technologies (IST) Ltd., a global supplier of LED drivers and lighting solutions, provided the downlighters which have contributed to a substantial saving of over 80% of lighting energy costs at Future Electronics’ HQ in Egham, Surrey.
The project, which was designed to show that LEDs are both functional and practical in an office setting, involved replacing existing halogen and CFL fixtures with decorative RGB LED lighting and white LED luminaries throughout the building. IST’s DL090 downlighters were retrofitted to replace the existing twin 26W CFL downlighters to illuminate the executive meeting rooms.
IST’s innovative downlighter delivers a total lumen per watt figure in excess of 45 l/W true system efficiency, which complies with the UK’s Part L regulations for fuel and power consumption. The downlighter uses a novel patent applied optical LED system, which maintains efficiency whilst providing a high quality even illumination output that gives the appearance of traditional light sources, making it eye safe and glare free. This IST system has a real advantage compared to other systems that attempt to place LEDs close to a diffuser or acrylic sheet, as the LEDs in the latter can be seen directly by users, which can be uncomfortable to the eye and produce high amounts of glare.
IST’s downlighters currently come in three colour temperature options of Cool White (5500K CCT), Neutral White (4100K CCT) and Warm White (3000K). The next generation of downlighters will also include a fully mains dimmable downlighter, which will employ industry-standard mains dimmers to enable the LEDs to be dimmed for theatres, conference rooms and a variety of other applications.The product range is based on the leading Luxeon Rebel package, offering assurance to customers that only the highest quality components are used to enable the downlighters to attain excellent lumen maintenance and reliability.
The 20 watt downlighters are easy to install and come complete with integrated LED driver and high efficiency diffusers, along with a variety of bezel colour finish options.
