The Scattering Cold Illuminated Light Source (SCILS) IPR provides a means for utilizing any light sources (including LEDs) in a non-imaging capacity using a scattering surface. This patent also includes the use of imaging through a TFT display or micro-mirror device for video projection.

The ICS IPR covers true colour mixing and additive light output for multi-channel (multi-colour) LED systems. The IPR teaches:
• Intelligent LED control - single and multiple colours'
• System power conversion
• Data communication within a lighting fixture
• Thermal management of an LED fixture - both electronic/electrical/mechanical
• LED lighting engine design
• Closed-loop feedback control within LED based systems
• Thermal, electrical and optical feedback loops within fixtures
• Hybrid light sources (e.g.; LEDs + other light sources)
This enables illumination systems to be developed for applications such as Machine
Vision, Architectural, Amenity, Medical and TV/Film lighting.

NEW IPR at June/July 2006 (Patent 4):
IST is in the process of securing additional IPR used in LED driver systems. The IPR will cover the new innovations developed in the latest generation of its drivers to be launched in Q1 2007 to provide increased LED fixture life, greater electrical energy efficiency and the ability to work with any LED type. This new IPR is embodied in the new iDrive products.
